About Us

Aequum Scholars

Aequum Scholars is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded with the goal of helping high school students. The Aequum Scholars Scholarship hopes to provide underserved high school students interested in pursuing careers in the Sciences, Technology, and Engineering fields with financial assistance.

Meet The Team

Kevin Wu

Officer

Dr Wu is a board certified physician in internal medicine and medical oncology. He is currently Executive Director at Schrodinger, a multinational global biotech and artificial intelligence technology company responsible for clinical investigations of novel drugs for cancer patients. His accomplishments include successful trial startup and conclusions that led to approvals of new cancer drugs. He completed his training at Columbia University Hospital, and UC San Diego medical school, and Univ of Southern California for undergrad. His numerous accolades include assistant professor of clinical medicine, teaching awards, Junior Scientist of Year in California, Intel Science Talent search semifinalist, Phi Beta Kappa, full-tuition scholarship for USC and UCSD.

Doreen Chen

Officer

Dr Chen is board certified physician in internal medicine and palliative care. She is founder and CEO of Omnia Health, which aims to deliver all encompassing compassionate care. She is valuable member of the local physician community, having been a hospitalist. She is awarded Junior Leadership training awards for her compassionate care and leadership potential. She completed her training at Staten Island University Hospital, and Ross Medical School.

Tasheka Nichols

Officer

Tasheka Nichols is assistant Vice President at Loreal, and Head of Finance for Kiehl's USA luxury beauty stores. She was previously at JP Morgan and has over a decade of strategic finance, leadership and compliance experience. She received her undergraduate from Univ of South Florida in Accounting and Finance.

WUF Branch Co-Leader

Frank Wang

Frank wang is a rising senior at Landon school and a passionate advocate for community through sports and service. A varsity tennis player and team captain, he competes in USTA tournaments and is currently ranked #9 in the class of 2026 in maryland by Tennis Recruiting. Last year, he began coaching younger kids in tennis through Sunshine Tennis, and with a group of friends, helped raise nearly $2,000 to support a cancer organization. He brings a strong interest in STEM and plans to pursue business in college. As a judge and coordinator or the Aequum Scholarship Program, Frank is proud to serve the students and help them access the support they need to succeed.

Grace Xiao

WUF Branch Co-Leader

Grace Xiao is a rising senior at Holton-Arms School with a long-standing passion for community service. Over the past seven years, she has led initiatives ranging from raising awareness for childhood cancer on podcasts to serving meals for underserved families and mentoring promising youth leaders. She serves as the Greater DC Chapter Head and National Business Development Lead for the Super Joey Foundation, an organization supporting kids with cancer. Grace is also the founder of We United Foundation, a youth-led nonprofit empowering teens across the DMV to lead and learn through service. A varsity tennis player, mun head delegate, and student researcher, her paper on youth volunteer motivation was recognized by the American Statistical Association. She is deeply excited and committed to work with Aequum Scholars to make education more accessible and meaningful for all.

Eric Chen

Media Manager

Eric Chen is a rising senior at Thomas S. Wootton High School. Throughout his schooling, Eric has always had a passion for community service and strives to bring equality to those around him. He is an Executive Director serving on the board of Equality Through Education, a nonprofit organization fighting for equitable education for students worldwide, impacting over tens of thousands of students across the globe. Serving as the board director of AAPSU, Secretary-General of Model UN, Co-President of HOSA, and more, Eric continuously works to be involved in his community in various ways. Eric has been involved with We United Foundation not only as a volunteer but also as the Co-Leader of Stepping Stones, continuing to support his local communities and bringing joy to kid. Working as the Media Manager of Aequum Scholars, he is excited and committed to bring more opportunities to students
